Facts Support Direct Mail Comparison of Hannemann and Abercrombie
Neil Abercrombie responds to any open discussion about his public record as if he is being smeared. He is quick to dismiss any reference to unflattering facts about his performance in the U.S. Congress as “negative campaigning.” He doesn’t contest the accuracy of these charges, but simply throws up a smoke screen of false indignation. For your reference here is supporting information for everything presented about Abercrombie in Mufi’s latest direct mailer:
Review by State Procurement Office Finds No Violations of City Contracts
The Hawaii State Procurement Office has concluded a review of City & County of Honolulu contract awards and found no violations of the State Procurement Code.
Carolyn Tanaka, campaign spokesperson for the Hannemann Committee, stated: “We are obviously pleased with the finding of the State Procurement Office. The complaint was filed back in May by people not involved in any way with the contracts in question, and who are known supporters of Neil Abercrombie. It was clearly a politically motivated act to embarrass and raise suspicions about then Mayor Mufi Hannemann. Playing politics with serious issues like public contracting to smear a candidate should not be tolerated.”
